3rd Party Damage

Ex. spray drift

  • Example: Dicamba or any other chemical is sprayed on a neighboring field and it drifts or moves and causes damage to your field.

  • 3rd Party Damage like this example is an UNINSURABLE cause of loss under you MPCI policy.

    • If needed, you may seek compensation from the 3rd Party and/or their liability insurance policy.

  • As soon as you are aware of the damage, please NOTIFY us ASAP as we may need to submit an MPCI claim for you.

    • A claim allows the adjuster to come inspect the field and verify that damage has occurred.

  • If a timely claim has been filed AND you KEEP PRODUCTION SEPARATE, crop insurance will allow you to report the YIELD from just the UNDAMAGED acres in the field / unit for APH purposes.

    • Your APH for future crop insurance guarantees should not be penalized due to 3rd party damage which by definition is outside of your control and not due to mother nature.

  • If there is also an insurable cause of loss, like drought or flooding, you can still be paid for the portion of the yield loss due to that insurable cause of loss.
